VALUES
Last year, I spoke with thousands of my neighbors and listened to what keeps them up and what keeps them going. I heard the same thing again and again: times are getting tough.
Too many families are working harder than ever, and still falling behind. These days remind me of when I first ran for Council. After the mill closed, I wanted to help when our community was hurting and needed compassionate, people-focused leadership. Back then, we came together and made real progress. Today, we are at another such moment. The cost of living is rising faster than people’s paychecks and housing in Danville is getting harder to afford.
That’s why I’m announcing that I am running for re-election to Danville City Council.
I am committed to improving the lives of everyone in Danville. That means we must lower the cost of living by reducing fees and taxes, ease the burden on families, and help people keep more of what they earn.
We must address the four housing crises in Danville: 1) the shortage of available housing, 2) the rising cost to buying or renting a home, 3) the vulnerability of tenants without adequate protections from the city, and 4) the shortage of resources we have available for our unhoused families. No one in Danville should have to sleep on the street. That means we need to build more homes and apartments, supporting affordable housing options, legally protect tenants, and invest in our shelter system so that no one is left behind.
We must also support our first responders. I’ve worked to deliver a new police station and a new fire station, along with the resources they need to stay safe, and I will continue to ensure they have our full support. Everyone in Danville deserves to feel safe in their own city.
For 37 years, I’ve served this community as a cardiologist and small business owner. I’ve seen people on their best days and their hardest days. In 16 years of leading Danville, I’ve seen how Danville’s growth only matters if it improves the lives of the people who live here. That experience has shaped how I lead with compassion, with urgency, and with a focus on results. This campaign is about continuing that work by listening and delivering; by making sure that the progress we’re seeing in Danville actually improves the lives of the people who call this city home.
A comeback city doesn’t leave people behind.
So I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together, but we’re not done yet. I’d be honored to earn your vote for City Council.
